In the studio with TWS
This past weekend I was lucky enough to join the guys of Trainwreck Symphony in the recording studio. The fellas have been hard at work trying to record new tracks to release to their fans before recording their next album. Let me just tell you, I had absolutely no idea how much work goes into recording a track. It was a very long day for everyone...
It started with Ache recording a scratch track so that Jeffrey can listen to it while recording his part on the drums. Jeffrey went into the booth and absolutely nailed his part in about an hour or so. We waited for Cisco to arrive so he could lay down his bass line next. We kept ourselves entertained by watching episodes of Masterworks. I can't believe I hadn't seen any of it until now. Anyways, when Cisco arrived he sat down and laid down bass. After that was complete, Ache was ready to rock on the guitar! At this point everything really started coming together and I was getting really excited for the final product. Last, Kona had to layer his vocals on top of everything and the masterpiece would come to its musical cusp. After about 19hrs in the studio, we listened to a rough recording of the track. It was very exciting to get a taste of what will develop from all the heart the guys poured into it.
Right now, we're waiting for the track to get mixed and hopefully in a few weeks you will all be listening to something pretty wonderful. Oh! And I can't forget... We managed to record footage of the entire process so hopefully our amazingly talented editor has a little snippet thrown together soon! That's all for now, friends!

3.8.11 Trainwreck Symphony: Live at Double Door
The most recent show TWS played was on a tuesday night at the Double Door! Even on a tuesday night the place was packed for their headlining event. They took the stage a little bit before midnight and absolutely blew the audience away! Just as recently as December, TWS has added three new songs into the rotation of their setlists. They love to give back to their fans and keep each and every one of them excited about the upcoming album they plan on recording within the next few months.
Not only did they make sure each person in the audience left with a big smile and a heart filled with amazing music that night, but they also used the setting at double door to start shooting their next video. If you have ever been to the double door, you know there is an additional bar located in the basement. You will recognize it as part of the opening of the band's next video. Let me just tell you, as someone who was present during shooting and when Kona was creating the concept, this next video will absolutely shock you (in a good way, of course.) TWS isn't going to settle when it comes to the creation of music videos and they are making sure to take themselves to the next level with the release of each and every new music video. Here's one little tid bit I bet you did not know. The guys are fully involved in the making of each of their music videos and the editing is even done by the amazingly talented Kona. How's that for over-achieving!? :)

Allow me to introduce myself...
My name is Aleks, formally Aleks Elliot and also known as 'The Girl Behind the Lens', pistol alex or pistola. I have been fortunate enough to know most of the members of Trainwreck Symphony for the last five years. I met Kona, Jeff and Ache while they were experimenting together as a different band. I remember instantly being entranced by the energy they brought forward and I crashed at least two practices a week just to be around them and their invigorating music. I wasn't really a fan of rock or metal, but their eloquent way of combining the two really drew me in. Those nights spent in a tiny rehearsal room with sweat dripping off the walls really paid off because just this past year I have been lucky enough to watch them grace some of Chicago's most infamous stages!
It is amazing to think back to just 5 years ago. Their sound, their talent, their stage presence... It was all only a fraction of what Jeff, Ache, Kona and Cisco bring with them on stage today. I wish I had more video footage of those days, but I am lucky to just have the memories. They have all worked so hard and dedicated so much of their time to their passion and it has been such an incredibly journey. I am so proud of these guys and I can't wait to see what the near future holds for them. I know it will be incredible and amazing and they deserve all of it!
I guess that is all for now! I look forward to keeping you all updated on everything the guys have going on and hopefully nagging them enough to also get involved in writing a few entries! If you have any questions or ideas for future blogs, don't hesitate to leave a comment!

Lucky number 5.
It's been a long running joke between me and the guys of Trainwreck Symphony that I am the fifth member of the band. Of course, I know I'm not actually part of the band... even if I do play a wicked triangle and tambourine, but they won't let me audition my skills. The truth is, I would do anything for each and every one of those guys. I love them and everything they are with everything in me! That's beside the point. I have seen these hard-working and fiercely talented musicians battle their ups and downs, lose members, deal with equipment failures before major shows... and the list goes on. By watching them do what they do so amazingly on that stage, you would never know any of it. When they are up there all that matters is that you are capable of connecting to them through the music they pump into your veins. I can honestly say I have never been to a Trainwreck Symphony show where each and every single member of the audience isn't smiling. They have a certain charm that wins over every new-comer and they quickly become devoted fans.
But enough about my love for those incredible four men. My intention for starting this was to keep everyone updated with everything the fellas have going on in their hectic musician schedules and what your happy little ears can expect to hear next from them! I have been fortunate enough to have heard the single the band will be releasing shortly and I can honestly say everyone will be incredibly blown away. The song is something the guys have performed numerous times on countless stages, but hearing it recorded has taken it to extreme heights. They have surpassed my wildest expectations and I have been completely hooked on this amazing cover! The guys plan to distribute the track at no cost to you initially when you sign up for the mailing list! I am not quite sure at the exact release date, but the track has been recorded and last I heard it was being sent to get mastered! Just a few more technicalities and I'm sure the guys will be ready to share it with everyone! Believe me, it is worth every excruciating second of waiting!
Also on the agenda, a new music video in the making! The band has officially started putting together their next music video! Keep your ears and eyes open... You might get to be a part of it!
That's all for now boys and girls!
